Matter

All of the dreams that haven’t come true,  (Ps. 38:9, Ps. 119:49, Prov. 13:12)
and all of the hurt that happened to you –  (Jer. 10:19)
it matters, I hope you know it matters…

You felt the pain of a bitter defeat  (Bible verses)
where the weight of the grief is more bitter than sweet –  (Lam. 3:32)
it matters, I’m telling you it matters

to the One Who spoke and set the sun ablaze;  (Gen. 1:14-19, Ps. 8:3)
to the One Who stopped the storm and walked the waves;  (Mark 4:39, Matt. 14:25)
to the One Who took the tree so He could say:  (1 Pet. 2:24, John 15:13, John 10:18)
You matter, I hope you know you matter!  (Matt. 10:29-31)

I know it’s not easy, not saying it’s fair,  (John 16:33)
but close as a prayer, Somebody cares –  (Matt. 28:20, Heb. 13:5, 1 Pet. 5:7)
you’re a treasure, I hope you know you’re treasured!  (Ex. 19:5)

So hold your head high, wait for the dawn;  (Ps. 27:14)
keep hanging on, your sadness will turn into laughter!  (Ps. 126:5-6, Is. 61:3)
Watch it turn into laughter…

Chorus  (Rom 8:31-32)

Let the water spill from your eyes;  (Ps. 56:8, Mark 9:24, Heb. 5:7, 2 Kings 20:5)
let it wash the wounds of those lies…
Oh, let the water spill from your eyes…
All that you are, all that you’ll be –
Someone put the beat in your heart so that you’ll see
you matter…  (Matt. 10:29-31, Is. 43:4)

Shoulders

Spoken:  “I look up to the mountains.  Does my strength come from the mountains?  No.  My strength comes from God, Who made heaven and earth, and the mountains…”  (Psalm 121)

When confusion’s my companion,  (Job 10:15)
and despair holds me for ransom,  (Ecclesiastes 2:20)
I will feel no fear –  (Psalm 118:6)
I know that You are near!  (Psalm 34:18)

When I’m caught deep in the valley,  (Psalm 23:4)
with chaos for my company,
I’ll find my comfort here  (2 Corinthians 1:4)
‘Cause I know that You are near…

My help comes from You –  (Psalm 121:2)
You’re right here, pulling me through!
You carry my weakness, my sickness, my brokenness  (Isaiah 53:4)
all on Your shoulders, Your shoulders.
My help comes from You –
You are my rest, my rescue…  (Matthew 11:28, Daniel 6:27)
I don’t have to see to believe that You’re lifting me up  (2 Corinthians 5:7)
on Your shoulders, Your shoulders.

You mend what once was shattered  (Isaiah 61:1, Luke 4:18)
and You turn my tears to laughter;  (Psalm 126:5)
Your forgiveness is my fortress;  (Colossians 1:14)
Oh, Your mercy is relentless!  (Lamentations 3:22-23)

In the end

Can’t catch a break…
You’ve had your fill of old clichés
like “Life is hard but God is good…”
And even though it’s true,
It won’t stop what you’re going through –
I wish that I could say it would!

But He’s outside of what you feel;
It might not make sense,
But one day it will –

There’s coming a day (that) the sun will always shine,
He’s gonna wipe away every tear from your eyes
Hold on my brother, things are gonna better,
You’re gonna smile again,
‘Cause we win in the end!

You’re standing still:
Life has handed you a bitter pill;
Once again you’re on your face,
You’ve got questions,
Plenty of secret confessions..
Wondering if you’ve run out of grace?

But He’s outside of what you feel;
This life is just a moment,
But our forever is sealed!

There’s coming a day (when) the sun will always shine,
He’s gonna wipe away every tear from your eyes
Hold on my brother, things are gonna better,
You’re gonna smile again,
‘Cause we win in the end!

It won’t be about streets of gold, pearly gates,
Harps and wings, diamond lakes;
All I know is that He’s gonna hold you, hold me…
Heartache will disappear,
Questions will become clear,
Life will all make sense in the end!

Chorus

Glory, glory hallelujah
Glory, glory hallelujah
Glory, glory hallelujah
We win in the end

2 Corinthians 4

14 Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you.   15 For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.   16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.  17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;  18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Holy Spirit, have Your way

Long after the tears fall I’m still your child,
I put down my defenses and lay down my pride,
Love and forgiveness flow deep and wide
So I’ll run to you and surrender all!

As I lay down my life and pick up my cross –
What a joy it is to give my life away to You!
All that I need, all that I seek
is You here with me –
Holy Spirit have Your way in me!

In times of trouble, though trials may come
The Rock of Ages is standing strong
I’m fighting battles, but the war is won
So I’ll run to you and surrender all…

Chorus

More of You and less of me, God
More of You and less of me, God
More of You and less of me, God
More of You overflowing

I refuse

I refuse to be discouraged, to be sad, or to cry;
I refuse to be downhearted, and here’s the reason why:

I have a God Who’s mighty, Who’s sovereign and supreme;
I have a God who loves me, and I am on His team.

He is all-wise and powerful, Jesus is His Name;
Though everything is changeable, my God remains the same.

My God knows all that’s happening, beginning to the end,
His presence is my comfort;  He is my dearest friend.

When sickness comes to weaken me, to bring my head down low,
I call upon my mighty God – into His arms I go.

When circumstances threaten to rob me from my peace;
He draws me close unto His breast, where all my strivings cease.

And when my heart melts within me, and weakness takes control;
He gathers me into His arms, He soothes my heart and soul.

The great “I AM” is with me, my life is in His hand,
The “Son of the Lord” is my hope, it’s in His strength I stand.

I refuse to be defeated, my eyes are on my God;
He has promised to be with me, as through this life I trod.

I’m looking past all my circumstances to Heaven’s throne above;
My prayers have reached the heart of God, I’m resting in His love.

I give God thanks in everything, my eyes are on His face;
The battle’s His, the victory is mine – He’ll help me win the race!
