Being His

The lyrics to the song Rooftops (performed by Jesus Culture) says, “I shout out Your Name, from the rooftops I’ll proclaim that I am Yours…”

What does it mean to proclaim for all to hear that I am His?  What does a life look like that declares His Ownership?

Being the LORD’s indicates that I am His possession, and that He is my Owner and Master.  To confess this, I need to accept His Authority and Headship in and over my life.  The Scripture clearly says that Jesus Christ is the Head over all things, and that all things are under His feet (Eph. 1:22, Eph. 4:15, Col. 2:10, Heb. 2:8).

The fruit of living out for all to see that I am His, is having and showing silent resignation and tranquil trust in every situation of life, believing and accepting that God is in control.

No, it will not be easy to accept His Authority in every situation, especially when we don’t understand why things happen, or why we are going through difficulties, pain and suffering.  It will require a cold choice most of the time.  BUT, accepting His Authority becomes easier when we confess (aloud!) that God sees the bigger picture, and that He is still good.

“And the LORD passed by before him (Moses), and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth…”  (Exodus 34:6)  The Scripture also says that, “… faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”  (Rom. 10:17)  The more we confess God’s abundant goodness, the more faith we will have in His good plans and purpose in all situations of life.  (Jer. 29:11)

Romans 8:28 says that God lets “all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

We need to believe in God’s abundant goodness.  We need to confess it out loud to have more faith in His Holy and Good nature.  When we truly accept God’s Authority over everything in our lives (and trustingly submit ourselves under His feet), we will experience how “the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 4:7)

May we learn to accept His Authority over every situation so that all who sees us, will see that “I am His…”

Jesus Christ – the Head over all (Ephesians 1:15-23)

15  Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints,
16  Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
17  That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
18  The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
19  And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
20  Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
21  Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
22  And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
23  Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
